Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone.

I hope you all had a lovely time over the festive season eating far too much food and drinking the annual mulled wine and port- hopefully not just me?!

New Years resolutions for 2013 are: Be positive, creative and believe in myself a lot more. Most of all keep to my resolutions.

2013 - second week in already with lots to get on with. This year so far I have entered 2 competitions-

Buttercup China Mug competition

This is the design I submitted for the competition and my design has been selected in the top 40 designs which is great! The next stage is to get selected into the top 10. The judging will happen on MONDAY so please if you could share with friends and family and help me get as many people to 'like' my design (only if you like it that is)

Here is the link to the Facebook to 'like' it.

Tigerprint Spots and Stripes Competition-

As well as the Buttercup China I have entered the Tiger Print Competition. For this brief I looked into what colours and styles have been forecast for S/S14 and chose a palette to fit in with this. I also saw that watercolour and painterly designs are predicted to be big so decided to create dots and stripes using watercolours. This is a style that really enjoyed playing around with and will do so a bit more this year,

ABSPD Module 3-

Starting on Monday can't wait to get stuck in to the final chapter of this course! I have come on leaps and bounds since module 2 and believe things can only go onwards and upwards from here.

To the end of a great Module and Merry Christmas

Hello Sorry I have not posted in a while I have been very busy working and I am happy to say I am now a proud graduate of The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design Module 2!  I cannot wait to start Module 3 in the new year! Whoop Whoop!. Alongside participating in the course I also have been working on tweaking my website which should be up and running in the new year. I will keep you posted as to when it is ready!

I have also entered the Tigerprint Christmas competition, these are the designs which I submitted:

This weekend just gone I went away to Krakow in Poland. It has been a long life ambition of mine go to Poland as I am half Polish and it was great to see my heritage. I went with my parents and my boyfriend and had an amazing time. Very inspiring. I have been a lot more aware of typography styles since completing module 2 of ABSPD course and found lots of different styles around Krakow. Here are some of my photo's from the trip.

Really loved how the snow enhanced the text

Merry Christmas everybody I hope you have a lovely time over the festive period and here's to a successful 2013 full of more designing and creativity!

Tiger Print Typography Competition

Along with all the designing I have been doing recently, I made sure I found the time to enter the Tiger Print Hand Drawn Typography competition too! Typography is something I have never really explored before but I really enjoyed working to this brief and it is something I will look to develop more within my designs.

Here are the Designs I entered into the competition. There were a lot of brilliant entries again so it will be a tough one again!

I love this saying and use it all the time, if I received this card in the post  it would make my day !

Living in Cornwall I wanted to Capture some of the Cornish Language in this card.

Well fingers crossed and I will find out the results later on this week!

Busy, busy, busy

I have been very inactive on my blog of recent times, but not due to anything other than lots of creative productivity. I decided recently that it would be beneficial to enrol on the Art and Business of Surface Patten Design course. It has been the best investment I have ever made. I have learnt so much from the first week alone and really enjoying the course and it's structure.

Here is some of the things I have been up to recently.
This gives an idea of design development and creating a colour way from one of my photos.

Creating a collection that all compliment each other.

Adding my designs to cooking mittens to see how they look on products.
